I had the absolute pleasure of doing the hair and makeup for a very special bride.
The Bride and Groom had a truly Torontonian ceremony, an intimate exchange in Toronto City Hall’s Wedding Chambers. Then off to a delicious dinner with close friends and family at Yonge and Eg.
Alysha wore a tea-length strapless white dress, with a bejewelled sash. She told me she doesn’t wear much makeup, is pretty low-key when it comes to her hair, and that she wanted to keep it that way for her big day.
I just evened out her skin tone a bit with a sheer layer of L’oreal True Match foundation, added a light flush to her cheeks, and a light pink on the eyelid with a neutral brown in the crease for some definition (both from Makeup Forever’s Artist Palette Vol. 4). She wanted a bit of volume for the lashes, without a fake look, so I used KISS Wispies #11 false lashes with Duo lash glue for a bit of “umph”. I also gave Alysha an almost-nude lip, that had a touch of dusty rose.
For her hair we went with voluminous curls, with a deep side part a la classic Hollywood style. Twisting one side back and pinning it in place with a crystal comb gave it an elegant touch fit for a bride.
I also had fun glamming up the flower girl! Kiara wanted a bit of makeup, so with mom’s permission she got some sparkly silver on the eyelids, a pink gloss, and even a couple little individual lashes on the outer corners of her eyes. Kiara has lovely curls, so I only had to define them a bit more with a small curling wand, and slipped a couple white flower clips on the one side.
